Location
Valournenche offers ideal skiing for the beginner, intermediate or expert, the latter having the opportunity to cross over to Cervinia and if time permits further over into Zermatt to find even more challenging slopes.
The very experienced ski school is able to offer group or individual tuition and there is ample room for lessons on the slopes. Children are especially welcome and there is not only a nursery slope but toboggan run and children’s recreation area. There are four restaurant/bars on the slopes two close to the main tele cabin and two mid way up the slopes providing that much needed confidence booster and warming meal.
The village of Valtournenche has many small bars and restaurants to cater for “après ski” within walking distance of the hotel, but the hotel has excellent facilities with comfortable lounges and a bar and in particular a restaurant offering excellent meals. The owners are a local family and offer half board accommodation throughout the season which truly represents good value for money.
Valtournenche is not as commercial or as busy as Cervinia with very few, if any, of the large ski tour operators at the resort so consequently it has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with much of the alpine culture retained. Within a ten minute drive from the hotel is Valtournenche’s own Piste di Fondo – cross country ski course, and ski resorts of Chamois and Torgnon further down the valley, the former reached by cable car only and the latter providing all downhill facilities and two or three Piste di Fondo courses.
